MArgaretMargaret Gish has been an environmental activist since 2010. She was a part of the first group of youth to be trained by Al Gore’s organization, the Climate Reality project to give presentations about climate change.  Since 2010 she has organized an IMatter march, been involved in BALE’s (Building a Local Economy) intergenerational climate change dialogue, was a youth speaker at the first Our Children, Climate, Faith symposium in 2013 and spoke at the VECAN conference in Fairlee Vermont. Margaret also completed projects in high school on severe weather in Vermont due to climate change, nature deficit disorder in children and oil in Ecuador. Margaret is currently a freshman at the University of Vermont studying elementary education and minoring in special education and environmental studies. Margaret hopes to be an elementary teacher with a heavy focus on environmental stewardship and awareness in the future! Margaret also hopes to teach others about the grounding affect that running can have on environmental appreciation as she has been a distance runner for most of her life.
